SNOOKER BONANZA     established in 1979 by Tony Aldridge

22 teams contested the "Bonanza" last year, the lowest ever entry in the 25 year history of the event.............. but MOTTISFONT are the 2004 champions..........

Mottisfont  took on Marchwood’s Cue T’s Terrors at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

Mottisfont, who have never reached the final before, took the lead when Eddie Eagles with a forty point start played well to beat Greg Moore 87-24. Darren Pearce, (giving 40pts) attempted to level the match until Mottisfont’s Kevin Trimble fluked the final pink to leave a black ball match in which Pearce cruelly went in off to lose the frame. Cue T’s Rob Wilson (giving 36 pts) made a frame back after his triumph over captain Neville Glover.

In the final frame Dave Russell won the match by beating Martin Tidby. Russell, after receiving a thirty four point start, struggled to finish off Tidby who managed to claw back twelve points in snookers at the end of the match. With both players nerves in tatters as well as the supporters the balls ran for Russell and he potted the blue and pink to secure a victory. Cue T’s team Captain Darren Pearce accepted the £75 finalists prize plus trophies for each player. Neville Glover received £150 on behalf of the Mottisfont team and trophies for the players including the large silver cup, which the club holds for one year. Evergreen Pete Marchi refereed the match and C/Ford Sc sponsored the event.
