WINCHESTER billiards star
John Mullane made an impressive debut on the European billiards circuit. Mullane,
the English Amateur Billiards Association (EABA) number one ranked player last
season, reached the final of the first event of the English Billiards Open
Series in Cambridge. Phil
Mumford, playing on his personal match-table, amassed breaks of 267 and 441
unfinished in the allotted 90 minutes. Mullane
said: “Victory on my debut would’ve been wonderful, but a final was still a
dream start to my tour. “I’m
looking forward to the next one.” Mullane
flies out to Wroclaw, in Poland, on Friday for the second leg of the
seven-tournament circuit but is in need of sponsorship in his quest for European
glory. He

at Sarisbury Social Club last season(2004 / 5) and doing well in the national competitions. He's now classed as one of the top eight billiards players in the U.K. John has also picked up numerous awards in the Winchester Snooker League. At the start of the new 2005 / 6 season John (147 Executive B) scored a 53 and then ran out with an unfinished 70 break to snatch the game from Steve Allen (Woolston Cons). Steve needed only 29 to win. JOHN MULLANE, a star performer indeed. A prolific break maker at both snooker and billiards. |
