Aug 6: won all four matches on his Eastleigh & District Under-13 League debut, aged seven.

Nov 11: helpfully suggested his soon-to-be coach Dave Mumford may be hitting the ball too hard.

2006

Mar 29: won the Best Newcomer Award at the Winchester City & District Snooker League’s under-18 Triton Trophy, aged eight.

Sept 30: cleared the table for a 40 break in an under-21 tournament.

2007

Jan 27: signed a three-year sponsorship deal on his ninth birthday with Andover-based insurance consultants Oliver and Sanders.

Feb 4: won a first tournament, the under-12 South of England Cuestars at Salisbury.

Feb 16: finalist in the Pontin’s, Prestatyn, under-12 ‘Star of the Future’.

Apr 18: appeared on Meridian TV.

May 12: posted a 61 in an under-21 tournament.

Oct 10: made the pages of The Sun after clinching the Chandler’s Ford Under-21 Roll-Up handicap series.

Sept 2: took a frame off world No 75 Ben Woollaston in a friendly in Leicester.

Nov 19: scored a 101 in a practice match and appeared on page three of the Echo. Castle promised his coach a tournament ton by the end of the year.

Dec 8: became the youngest ever Eastleigh & District Under-18 Premier League champion.

Dec 30: scored a 101 in the under-19’s Grand Finals at Rushden SC, a month before his tenth birthday.

2008

Feb 15: crowned Pontin’s, Prestatyn, ‘Star of the Future’ under-12 champion.

Mar 9: lost to Adam Bobat in the last 16 of the EASB national under-14 championship in Leeds.

Apr 20: finished sixth on the EASB Southern Regional Junior Tour.

Aug 14: selected for the England under-14 team.
