Wincanton Billiards Play this year took place on Sunday, 3rd April, and with the additional entries from Robert Marshall, Brian Harvey and Bill Andress, the standard of play took a step up from that of 2010. In the first game (50 mins), Marshall set the standard required by scoring 342 points at the table, he won his second game and in his third took out Brian Harvey by 30 points. But the final, in Group A, Marshall produced the high break of the day. Some masterful "top of the table" play with floating white gave him a 193 points in one visit. Bill Andress won the "B" cup, Harvey won the "C" and Southampton Player, Mike Henstredge was runner-up in the "D" event. A long day at the Mill Street Club, but some good entertaining play. efforts from 2010 Billiards at Wincanton is a long established annual tournament which takes place at the Mill Street Club every April. Players are allotted 1 hour of table time against each of 3 separate opponents. Scoring is transfered by way of 20 points for a win, 10 points for a tie and 1 point for every 10 points scored at the table. e.g. if you win say 230 to 180, you receive 20 points for the win and 23 points for your score = 43. The loser scores just 18. Play continues throughout the day, usually 3rd Sunday in April, until all competitors have completed their three games. Players having won all 3, proceed to Group A, players who win 2 go into Group B and so on. Last years champion, John Mullane was unavailable. So, traveling up from the Southampton district were, Steve Allen, Mike Kunzi, Tony Aldridge, Derek Foster and Mike Henstredge. and Group A was won by Steve Allen...... and Group B by Mike Kunzi...
High Break for the day was recorded by Derek Foster
