Final League Tables
BISHPSTOKE INST have
completed the Winchester league and cup double but now have their sights set on
the treble. Skipper
Drew Farminer chalked up the winning frame in the team final against cup-holders
Churchills’ on the Eastleigh side’s own tables. “It’s
brilliant. I couldn’t ask for anything more of them,” said the delighted
23-year-old, whose side were crowned Premier champions last week. “They’ve
done most of the work all season; I’ve just been there as captain.” Mark
Benzey knocked in a 57 against Sid Reid and Danny Gallant’s win over veteran
Allan Taylor set up Farminer for the glory frame against Simon Green. On
Tuesday the Institute face an away trip to Chandler’s Ford B in the second
round of the Ken Caldwell Cup. And
in the next round they could face Eastleigh Railway Institute A who are also
chasing a treble. The
Division 1 champions ended East Winchester B’s bid for success in the team
Vase final. Former
challenge tour player Mitch Wade beat Dean Baigrie, Ray Long made it 2-0 against
Gary Unsworth and left-hander John Barton clinched the trophy against Rob
Watson. Darren
Fagan won a consolation frame against Malc Tomlin. Justin Mines wrapped up a 4-1
victory against Si Rowlands with a 54.

THEY were not even in the
league when the season kicked off in but now they are champions. When
Churchills’ B were forced to pull out of the Winchester City & District
League due to lack of players, Mark Andrews was tasked to form the Chandler’s
Ford F side to take over their fixtures. Andrews,
36, who works at a meat packers, signed up Paul Goddard, Nick Houghton, Mark
Hickin, Daniel Woods and Mike Allen. A
5-0 win at Winchester SC B clinched the Division 2 title with a game to spare. “We
did have a bad patch when we couldn’t get a team up,” said Andrews. “But
when we got going, we got going. We won the last four matches 5-0.” A
former pool player, Andrews started playing snooker aged 20 and joined the
league nine years ago after receiving coaching from ex-Saints star Ken Jones. Alex Dunkley chalked up breaks of 97 and 114 against the league’s chairman Julian Williams as Chandler’s Ford E secured second spot in the Premier with a 10-0 victory at Winchester Cons C. Latest tables Premier:
