top two in Division 2 of the Winchester City & District Snooker League could
settle the title race. Chandler’s
Ford Central, seven points adrift but with two games in hand, travel the short
distance to Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club D. In
Division 1, Bishopstoke Institute, the 2008 champions, have a 17-point lead with
three to play although defending champions Churchills have a game in hand.
THE annual general meeting
of the Winchester City & District Snooker League takes place at Eastleigh
WMC on Tuesday, 15th September at 8pm. ROB McLean (Churchills)
replaced Julian Williams as chairman of the Winchester City & District
Snooker League at the AGM at Eastleigh WMC. James
Byrnes (Winchester Snooker Centre) takes on the role of vice-chairman and
secretary. Remaining in their posts are competitions secretary Drew Farminer
(B/Stoke Inst) and treasurer Jim Everett (C/Ford SC). Results
secretary Owen Trimmer (Winchester SC) announced that 19 teams, the same as last
year, will compete in two divisions. Matches start on September 29.
Winchester Snooker Leagues 2008 / 2009 Winchester
City and District Snooker League AGM THE 38th Winchester City
and District Snooker League season breaks off on Tuesday, September 23. At
the AGM at Winchester Snooker Centre, results secretary Owen Trimmer announced
that the league has lost four teams and will revert to two divisions with ten
teams in each. Chairman
Julian Williams, from Winchester Club (formerly Winchester Conservatives),
treasurer Jim Everett (C/Ford SC) and Trimmer (Winchester SC) were re-elected
unopposed. Bishopstoke
Institute captain Drew Farminer was voted in as competitions secretary. Delegates
decided to adopt the Southampton league rule that all free balls must be
nominated. Churchills,
in Eastleigh, do not allow under-16s to play.
